Home Canned Cherry Pie Filling


You can use fresh red grapes or cherries!

6 quarts red grapes
7 cups sugar
1 and 3/4 cups clear jel or cornstarch
9 1/3 cups cherry juice (you can use water, but the cherry juice gives it much better flavor!)
1/2 Cup lemon juice
2 teaspoons almond extract
red food coloring
Prepare jars and canner bath. Wash and stem grapes. Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add liquid ingredients. Bring to a boil then add the grapes and boil about 5 minutes and thickened. Put ingredients in 7 quart jars then into boiling water bath for at least 30 minutes.
